Not just another leadership workshop series ...
... a jazz LEADERSHIP Workshop series! Leadership development and leadership training ... the jazz way! Theme: “How to be a better leader - the jazzLEADERSHIP way”
We believe jazz provides a great metaphor for leadership. We've devised a leadership workshop programme with a difference! This
is not a pre-digested, one-size-fits-all leadership training event. It
is a self-programming series created by participants. It evolves to
meet the needs of the group. In this way we all get to practice leadership within the group in ways that express the jazzLEADERSHIP approach. Jazz themes in this leadership workshopJazz is about "virtuosity and improvisation" in the players. It’s
about awareness and responsiveness. It’s about standing up and soloing
at the right time. It’s also about synergy and teamwork. It’s about responding to context and it’s about breaking the rules – providing the music ‘works'. I
used to think that running an organization was equivalent to conducting
a symphony orchestra. But I don't think that's quite it; it's more like
jazz. There is more improvisation. Someone once wrote that
the sound of surprise is jazz, and if there's any one thing that we
must try to get used to in this world, it's surprise and the
unexpected. Truly, we are living in world where the only thing that's constant is change. - Warren Bennis Syncopation – “a momentary contradiction to the prevailing meter or pulse”. This
is just what we guarantee at the next jazz LEADERSHIP session. We will
break out of the hum-drum status quo and explore the reality and
research about successful leadership. Jazz is “seeing how far out
you can go, and still get back”. We promise to explore the far horizons
of leadership learning and experience and still get back to practical
application. Warren Bennis again: Leaders must encourage their organizations to dance to forms of music yet to be heard. We invite you to jazz LEADERSHIP – a participative and co-creative event with the energy of a jazz improv session. If
you are leading with all the flair and creativity you can possibly
imagine … and the changes you need to make are going ahead smoothly –
great! Come and solo and help others learn. And perhaps stretch yourself a little! On
the other hand, you may be frustrated in your leadership role. From
time-to-time you know that mould-bending, mould-stretching and – of
course – mould breaking fit your situation. Come and play along with the band. Pick up the new riffs you need to become a better leader. The very essence of leadership is that you have to have vision. You can't blow an uncertain trumpet. - Theodore M. Hesburgh At jazz LEADERSHIP there are no spectators. We learn and play and grow together. The great leaders are like the best conductors - they reach beyond the notes to reach the magic in the players. - Blaine Lee
